Ontario Corn Fed Beef wins National Award for Innovation and Sustainability

March 10, 2016 – Ottawa, Ontario – Jim Clark, the Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association and the Ontario Corn Fed Beef program have been named as the recipient of the Canadian Cattlemen Association’s 2016 Beef Industry Innovation and Sustainability Award. This award publicly recognizes individuals, industry stakeholders and value chain members for their outstanding commitment to the sustainability of Canada’s beef industry through innovation.

The latest edition of The News Feed is now available online. The Spring 2016 issue covers the highlights of the 18th annual Beef Industry Convention in London that was proudly hosted by the Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association.

While a lot has changed in the beef industry in the 15 years since the Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association launched the Ontario Corn Fed Beef brand, one thing has never changed.

The OCFA has stood by its original blueprint for the farmer-owned program.

As a result, the original principles of the brand are winning over new customers at home and across the world.

Loblaws Beefs Up The Meat Case

The May issue of The News Feed highlights the move by Loblaw Companies to offer Ontario Corn Fed Beef at 46 more stores. The leading Canadian grocer has expanded the program to include Ontario Loblaws stores, Loblaw great food, the Loblaws store at Maple Leaf Gardens and Bloor Street Market. With the expansion, OCFB products are available at more than 200 Loblaw Cos. stores across the province.

Steve Kell, a grain merchandiser with Parrish & Heimbecker, credits farmers for being good at understanding how the fundamentals of supply and demand in agricultural production affect the prices.
